One twin will become a hero. The other will be hated by the gods. Jeno discovers an immense power while feasting at the table of the gods. But instead of using this power for good, the Goddess Nalin tricks the demigod into traveling into the Realm of Shadows. There Nirat, the dark god of the dead, brands Jeno with the mark of the crow. He threatens the boy’s friends and his family, charging him with the task of killing eight high priests. Without the high priests renewing runes of protection around the city, the golden walls of Drathan will be vulnerable to siege. Chiro, Jeno’s twin, rises in the ranks of the human army, leading a troop of rangers. When the god Tanir sends word of his support through priest Deseros, Chiro is surprised to find dragons and giants joining their siege of Drathan. After defeating a high elf champion and winning a legendary magical sword, the boy encounters a mysterious dark elf who claims to be a demigoddess. Princess Jasmina offers Chiro and the humans support in the siege, and after communicating with an elder dragon, proves her connection to their god. The twins will come together in the final siege, but despite their reunion, they will grow even farther apart.
