Infantry men who once ridiculed and scoffed at Desmond’s simple faith and refusal to carry a weapon owed their lives to him. In the midst of a fierce firefight on Okinawa that felled approximately 75 men from the 1st Battalion, Private Doss refused to seek cover and carried his stricken comrades to safety one by one. This and other heroic acts earned him the highest honor America can bestow on one of her sons - the Congressional Medal of Honor.

But his story doesn’t end in 1945. There have been many other battles and victories for the man known as "the unlikeliest hero", and this book tells those stories.

From an accident-prone childhood to World War II gallantry, the tragic loss of his first wife, Dorothy, and his battles with deafness and cancer, Desmond Doss has lived a life of unsurpassed devotion. Devotion to his country, his convictions, and his God.

Well written and is a real testament to standing up for God and in doing what he believed to be right, often in the face of adversity.

Great faith based story of a man’s love for God. You get the other rewarded by God though his eyes.

Inspirational!

I loved hearing Desmond’s story! He was such a generous and loving person and we should all strive to be more like him.

I love the belief in miracles that he and his family had.

Sometimes it was hard to follow, but I think that was just the writing style.

What stood out the most was a simple country boy with the faith of David and the old testiment profits.

If your a Christian you believe in the 10 commandments and you LIVE your faith. And to be intellectualy honest, this is a book about faith. NOT the false ideas of what man's precipitation of what God wants but what the BIBLE and the Bible only has to teach us. And THAT all hinges on the 4th commandment. Doss was a true man. He LIVED his faith. And he kept the 10 commandments.
