Twenty-five years after the end of oil, Dev hears the shocking sound of hoofbeats on the road. No one has been up the road in six years, and now the last people he wants to see have arrived: a dozen armed men on horseback, promising a return of government and order.

Dev doesn't believe their promises, and they come with too terrible a cost, starting with a tax on food that he cannot afford. He and the neighbors are barely scraping by - the sharp bite of hunger their constant companion. pretty good over all

I think this is a good read. not the best but still worth the time. characters are built well, and easy to like. I'd like to have more time with the bad guys, so I can dislike them more.
nothing to graphic. nice series. kept my attention. and I enjoyed.
I did stumble over the 125° degrees tho.....

Family friendly

The best thing about the series is it is family friendly- no cursing, not much graphic violence. I wish each book was longer and as always I want to read what happens next..,

The ability of the narrator / narrators to bring the story to life!

Great book! Very well written as well as narrated!
I was sad to see this book come to an end, but glad to see that the story hasn't ended and I'm anxious to continue the story. I'll be patiently waiting for the next book to be released so that I can continue listening to this awesome story.
I am forever grateful to Great authors like this one for making it possible for me to enjoy books , as I have narcolepsy and can't stay awake trying to read an actual book , therfore I have never truly been able to experience the joy that books are capable of giving a person until audiobooks were made available. For that I am truly grateful!
Although the majority of the books that I enjoy are end time apocalypse / post apocalyptic books , there are a small amount of other books that I have found myself enjoying however it's rare to see me listening to anything other than a apocalyptic audiobook.

An enjoyable series

I could certainly listen to another book or two in this series.
I really enjoyed it.
A like but too much of he said she said but overall a good series.
