Destined Over Forty is one of those audiobook collections that makes you wonder why midlife paranormal romance isn’t talked about more—because this was such a fun, satisfying binge. Four standalone stories, confident over-forty heroines, seaside small-town vibes, and protective shifters who know exactly what they want? Yes, please.

What really stood out is how refreshing the characters are. These women aren’t starting over quietly—they’re rediscovering themselves, embracing desire, and choosing happiness on their own terms. Each story brings a slightly different flavor, from beach ranger bears to a silver-haired wolf firefighter, but the emotional throughline stays strong: love doesn’t expire, and magic doesn’t either.

Loved these stories

I so enjoyed listening to these stories one after the other. I loved revisiting them as I read them all before listening to them. The narrator brings so much life and passion to all the characters. I really liked Stacy and Dillon, her mother Carol is something else. Must have been great growing up with her.

Destined Over Forty, great stories

The Shifter Nation bundle four great stories in one place. Next Door Midlife Alpha was a strong start; I particularly enjoyed Stacey and Dylan’s immediate attraction and the realistic portrayal of finding love later in life. Wolf’s Golden Mate was equally engaging, offering a refreshing look at an older couple with rich backstories.Bear’s Midlife Bridesmaid kept me gripped with its balance of humor, drama, and adventure—the opening scene on the ship was especially memorable. Finally, Christmas Midlife Mate featured a wonderful progression of trust between Will and Julie. I was impressed by Will’s maturity and Julie’s decisive actions when he was in danger. I found all the stories to be well worth reading with happy endings. I enjoyed listening to DC Cole narrate the stories.
