Her aunt Khethi treated her so badly because there was always a sibling rivalry between the two sisters. She took her anger and frustration on the poor girl. She gave her away as a surrogate woman to an old friend who couldn't have children. This became a well kept secret between Khethi and uncle Jackie. When Keni realized that she was pregnant she ran away and reunited with her ex boyfriend hoping to build her life afresh. Things got ugly. The situation went from bad to worse. Abuse got ugly.
