The touring band life of a full-time student is full of dichotomies. From 2011-2017, Alex Dontre performed 505 concerts with his band Psychostick while simultaneously pursuing a college education. It culminated with a master's degree in Business Psychology from Franklin University, at which time he gave the commencement speech at his graduation as valedictorian.

When I first heard that Alex was releasing a book and what it would be about, I was thrilled to read it. To my surprise, it was better than I had anticipated. This book was eloquently written and with material simply explained, but, as a fan of Psychostick, I may sound biased. Overall, this book was a refreshing read and I am impressed with Alex as not only a musician, but a scholar as well.

A wonderful book written by a talented dude!

Full disclosure: I was provided a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for a review.

Alex's memoir is interesting, funny, gripping, and whatever the audiobook equivalent of a page-turner is. I listen to a lot of spoken-word content, and now have quite a backlog of podcasts to catch up on, because I just could not put this down. Hearing stories of studying while on tour may not sound like the most thrilling thing in the world, but believe me, it is absolutely worth it. I would absolutely recommend this book to any metal fan. The narrator does an excellent job of keeping you interested, and listening is a pleasure.

Awesome book!
