To start. Not the best, but not too bad. For people used to zombie novels this one had 2D characters, predictable or uninteresting plot and turns, added to family drama that I just couldn’t care about. Having just read some Keith C Blackmore, my standards were high. Not to be too mean, this is not a bad zombie book. I have read some absolutely awful zombie books and this one did have some redeeming moments. So I gave it a three overall. As always, I thoroughly enjoyed R. C. Bray.

Not very good, but decent enough zombie novel

If you read this review, please read all the way through. It really did get better...

To be honest, the first hour of "Die Trying" wasn't great - not bad, just not good. It started off slow, and I almost gave up on it. I actually said out loud "this book sucks! Why do I keep listening?!" There seemed to be a lot of talk and description, but little action.

After that first hour, though, the book started to redeem itself. The second 2/3rds were great. I couldn't stop listening. Zombies were everywhere, there was conflict and chaos from within the group, and without. By the end, I was on the edge of my seat holding my breath and waiting to find out what would happen - would they make it to safety, or die right there on the side of the road minutes away from redemption?

Another reviewer mentioned it would be a good idea for Nicholas Ryan to add a second book and make this a series. I would have to agree. It would be awesome to hear what comes next for the President's daughter and her "bodyguard."

Worth the read/listen

I did like the story and the preformance, however it felt weird and forced in some places. But definitely glad I checked this one out! Also, why does every drive terribly?

Overall pretty good

Good listen. Highly recommend if you like disaster survival books. It has zombies but it is really a bit more.

Good start. Hope this story continues.
