From Keith McCabe, the author of Rabbit King, comes a terrifying thriller about a film no one was meant to see...

A chilling and immersive thriller, Director’s Cut plunges readers into the depths of internet horror and cinematic obsession. The novel follows Amanda Sloan, a film preservationist who stumbles upon a mysterious collection of old film reels and video tapes hidden in the depths of a psychiatric hospital. Among them is a lost film linked to the infamous and reclusive director Maynard Burke, a filmmaker whose violent films have earned a rabid cult following. As Amanda begins to unravel the mystery, she uncovers secrets that refuse to remain buried.

Meanwhile, Louis Bardon, a tenacious film editor and restoration expert, is assigned to a film project that requires absolute discretion—a project shrouded in secrecy. As he digs deeper, Louis realizes that this is no ordinary film; it carries an ominous legacy that those in power would rather keep hidden. His expertise in tracking down lost footage takes him into the shadows of the film industry, where disturbing truths begin to emerge.

What he uncovers is a haunting and enigmatic video resurfaced from the darkest corners of the internet, a video called Heaven’s Bounty, which features unsettling imagery that defies explanation. As Louis attempt to trace its origins, he uncover disturbing connections between real-world horrors and the shadowy figures behind its creation. The deeper he searches, the more he realizes that some films are never meant to be found.

Blurring the lines between reality and fiction, Director’s Cut is a masterfully crafted descent into the dark underbelly of the film industry and online folklore. With a narrative that weaves together internet urban legends, lost cinema, and psychological terror, the novel keeps readers on the edge of their seats. As the past resurfaces with terrifying consequences, Amanda and Louis must confront the truth—some stories are meant to stay hidden, and some films should never be watched.

This was overall a good book with a great story. However, the virtual voice was not done very well. At times, it was difficult to follow who the speaker was, because there was no change in the voice. And the pronunciation of some words or terms, such as Div-id-dees for DVDs was quite annoying.

Good book but did not like virtual voice

It was a great story but the AI reading was really bad.
It was worth powering through the crappy AI though
