As the father of young children I am always looking for stories that bring wonder to the eyes of my kids. Dirty Paws is a real honest-to-goodness story that is reminiscent of a forgotten era. When I first came across Dirty Paws on Audible, I had my doubts. I was already familiar with the children’s picture book of the same name, but my initial thought was that children’s books can be hard to translate into audio format. After listening to it, however, I can honestly say that this charming story is brought to life in a fresh and entertaining way. This version is read by the author, and is a full-fledged performance-filled with character voices and all. If you grew up having Beatrix Potter, E. B. White or C. S. Lewis read to you, or are some of the wonderful parents that read them to your children now, then have a listen.

My kids are loud and talkative at 3 and 5 years old. They have listened quietly to Dirty Paws twice now; once on a road trip, and once before bed time. Both times, they were calm, quiet, and still when they had been rowdy and noisy moments before.

More important than my kids enjoying the listen, they are paying attention and can tell me the story back in some detail, voices included! This is significant, because Hannah's story is reinforcing what we are teaching them at home: that we must love one another, no matter our color.

Hannah and Vincent do an amazing job reading, drawing on years of experience in character acting and dramatic performance. Their voice characterizations are compelling, clear, and memorable.

My kids adore listening to Hannah's story!
