Richard Vaux has done his share of dirty work, but nothing like this. His employer, Trans World Airlines, wants him and a crew to sneak into Beirut, Lebanon, at the height of a civil war, to reclaim an airplane hijacked by Palestinian terrorists. TWA can't say for sure whether the plane will fly or whether it has been wired to explode in flight. And that's assuming they aren't attacked by one or more of the rival militias who pass the time shooting at each other across the tarmac, but only because there haven't been any Americans to kidnap in a while.

A very interesting short book. he had a real adventure too bad they didn't get more recognition for their work.

Can’t really recommend this one. There’s some lengthy historical context padding and the overall story is basically only mildly interesting. There were three things that stuck out to me: author mentioned twice that his marriage was falling apart, but no expansion on that at all, he volunteered (at regular salary) to go recover a formerly hijacked aircraft from a dangerous location for his company, and at a “thank you” ceremony he really goes on about how much he hates the CEO’s child. Weird.

Kind of interesting, but…
