Fitzwilliam Darcy has always relied on his wealth, status, and careful reserve to navigate society's treacherous waters.
But Elizabeth Bennet threatens to disarm him completely. She is everything his heart finds captivating—witty, spirited, utterly bewitching—but everything his head tells him he cannot have.
When a storm forces an unwelcome encounter with someone he deems entirely beneath his notice, Darcy discovers that his most carefully guarded secrets are no match for the unexpected perceptiveness of his companion—someone who sees through his defences with startling clarity, leaving him more vulnerable than he has ever been. Yet this same encounter may hold the key to everything he desires.
As old grievances reappear and hidden truths emerge, Darcy must choose between the armour of pride that has always protected him and the risk of exposing his heart completely. But he is not the only one whose mask is slipping. Charm can be the most dangerous weapon of all—until it is stripped away entirely.
Sometimes being disarmed is the only way to win the battle.
Disarmed is a Pride and Prejudice variation. It is a low-angst story and suitable for all audiences.

4 stars
This was a fun story where Darcy stopped Wickham and Lydia from an inappropriate rendezvous. Lydia learns some truths she doesn’t want to hear but this new knowledge sets her on a course that changes many things for the better. Lydia starts to see Darcy as the older brother she desperately needs. Elizabeth can see some thing has changed with her sister and is not sure what’s going on but she sees certain looks and small conversations between her sister and Darcy that starts her own path of questioning things around her. With Lydia’s direct manner of speaking Darcy also sees how his behavior needs to change. I loved that Lydia’s intelligence was brought to light and starts to bloom with the correct guidance. I laughed at how Wickham was dealt with! This was a fun read that I would read again.
One thing is I would LOVE to know what Lydia told Mr Collins! (Please Jo Abbott if you ever write a little side notes to share via newsletters or anything I would love this)
2/3/26 AUDIOBOOK: Well this was wonderfully narrated by Elizabeth Grace & Alex Wyndham (I hope that Alex starts to do more JAFF narration!!). This narration let me disappear into the story thus bringing up my rating of the book. Congratulations Jo Abbott for an enjoyable story!!
