When the economy tanks in Whiskey Creek, Georgia, hairstylist Jolene Claiborne expands her business to include skin care. A wise move until Scarlett Cantrell, a local celebrity, is murdered in the facial room. The police brush aside Jolene’s suspicions that the incident is tied to a recent break-in, and, to complicate matters, the victim's ghost threatens to make Dixieland Salon her permanent place of residence if Jolene fails to expose the killer.

Scarlett’s last words provide the only clue: “Find the jade elephant. Explains everything.” That is until a book of poetry turns up with a dangerous secret inside. Dealing with a diva ghost ain’t easy in the Bible belt. Throw in a sexy police detective, a crooked mayor with connections to the mob, a family cover-up, and a mother who hasn’t cut the apron strings, and you get one stressed out middle-aged hairstylist with murder and mayhem on the brain.

It took me awhile to get into this story and the narrator did not suit this audio book. It was not a bad but others might appreciate it more then I did.

Light and humours at times.

Humorous light listen to enjoy while working around the house.

Southern charm mystery

Cutesy mystery with a touch of romance. MS Ewing brought the southern personalities and southern family dynamics to life. A really good listen. The narrator's voice is clear and expressive. She nailed the accents down pat. Great job.

Hair Salon at it's best

Murder in a southern salon. Jolene Claiborne needs to get to the bottom of the fatal facial before her business goes belly up... but more importantly so that the ghost of Scarlett can move on.

A nice start to to an interesting series.

As the other reviewer said, it's a cutesy mystery with a lot of humor and a little romance. The narrator did a fantastic job with all the accents, and with differentiating between the characters. The book was very light, kind of a beach read, but good enough to hold my interest all the way through. I look forward to other books in the series as they become available!
