A war of magic. A legend of three elves. Darkness threatening to return.

Elves were supposed to be gone, defeated in the great war. Magic is practiced behind closed doors, and only by the elites. All I was trying to do was survive, maybe with a bit more curiosity about my master's magic than I should've allowed. He caught me snooping, and sent me on a quest to steal a magic scroll. A quest that would change my life.

Soon, I found myself caught up in a whirlwind journey that involved elves, monsters, and more than one hottie in my bed.

I was terrified. I was challenged. I was pleasured beyond belief.

I was loving every second of it, and now get to share that journey with you.

Warning: Harem elements, though more so in Books 2 and 3. The spicy sort, with detail.

This is definitely written from the male perspective and targeting college aged readers but it is still a fun ride. Mark seems to like an H with a penchant for multiple h's as the next books show so if you know that going in, complaining is a bit futile. You will go on a wild ride throughout this story and they do not end with cliffhangers.

I really enjoyed this one and am looking forward to the rest of the series!

Great start to a promising series!

The story was kind of meh, the magic was so undifined. After so much in depth magical theory and usage in the other books I've heard and read, this was kind of sub par. Runes were involved in some way or another but not defined. The narrative was good though.

It was okay.

This was disappointing.

What started as an interesting book about a powerless wizard stumbling upon a cure for said powerlessness turns to smut like flicking a light switch.

Im not a prude and there are plenty of books out there with more graphic and intense descriptions but the MC isn't a sex wizard(see the Spellmonger series for a good example of that). The sex could be functionally be replaced by a peptalk

The sex isn't the only problem though, it also lacks depth. The plot is continuously popping up with no signs, or dramatic irony. That make sense partially in a first person perspective but readers/listeners aren't fans of things happening too randomly seeming.

The narration was generally fine but his female voice leaves a lot to be desired and the grunting sex talk in two similar voices is a bit off putting

Character growth through smut.

Good book needs more information on tracking down magic a littlest more history and more on how this culture is set up
