In his first-ever Doctor Who novel, Tom Baker’s incredible imagination is given free rein. A story so epic it was originally intended for the big screen, Scratchman is a gripping, white-knuckle thriller almost forty years in the making.

The Doctor, Harry and Sarah Jane Smith arrive at a remote Scottish island, when their holiday is cut short by the appearance of strange creatures – hideous scarecrows, who are preying on the local population. The islanders are living in fear, and the Doctor vows to save them all. But it doesn’t go to plan – the time travellers have fallen into a trap, and Scratchman is coming for them.

With the fate of the universe hanging in the balance, the Doctor must battle an ancient force from another dimension, one who claims to be the Devil. Scratchman wants to know what the Doctor is most afraid of. And the Doctor’s worst nightmares are coming out to play…

Tom Baker himself reads this legendary Doctor Who adventure, a spine-chilling thriller forty years in the making.

A Tall-tale from a Great Soul. A life's work bound in a single story. There are so many deeply meaningful insights as throw-away lines, delivered in the inimitable Tom Baker style it is like a crash course on British understated bravado. Keep Calm and Doctor On. I will revisit this as many times as I can and hope to learn about the power of the word and story telling from The Master (NO - The Doctor!).

A fine tale worthy of the doctor's name! Certainly gripping with fearsome foes, but unafraid to be absurd as the Doctor should be! Follow Tom's Doctor along foggy beaches as creeping figures hide around every corner. Meanwhile, a masterful foe waits to reveal themselves and expose none other than the Doctor's worst fear! The Doctor is rarely caught off-guard, but can his companions keep up with only flesh and bone to support them? Pick up this book and find out!

The story itself is faithful to the feeling fans will recognize from Doctor Who, but having Tom himself to narrate makes it all the more authentic! Thank you for a fine story and an excellent performance in your reading, sir!

Favorite Doctor? Check. Favorite companion? Check. An original, new adventure with them both? Check. Written and narrated by the Doctor himself? Double check.

This is one of the best Doctor Who stories, ever. Listening to the voice of the Fourth Doctor is an incredible addition to it. By the end, I was in tears.

If you love the Doctor - in any of his or her regenerations - this book is a must and a wonderful addition to ones collection of Who memorabilia.

read and authored by Tom Baker, wow. Tom really shows why he is often considered the definitive doctor by the depth of his understanding of the character. This was one of the most well-written adventures I've encountered. His writing allows you to visualize so well the scenes being played out. For anyone like me who's had the mystery and fun of the doctor torn away by the new timeless child series ( I refuse to call Chibnall's retcon, child gating mysoginistic drivel Dr Who) This will bring you back to when Doctor Who was great

Tom Baker has written a fabulous book and it will be a wonderful addition to the Doctor Who universe. His narration is excellent. I could see, in my mind's eye, him in his long coat and even longer scarf working his way through the story as the Doctor. Thank you, Doctor, for allowing me to experience your storytelling at its best.
