Allison DuBois, inspiration for the hit TV show Medium, shares fascinating stories of encounters with the dead and adventures as a criminal profiler.

Her visions have helped solve crimes; her instincts have helped find missing people.

She can predict future events and read your mind.

When she was six years old, Allison's deceased great-grandfather came to her with a message for her mother: "I am okay, I am still with you. Tell your mom there's no more pain." Allison shared his comforting words with her mother and thus began a lifetime of creating connections between loved ones and those they have lost.

In this stunning book, Allison shares fascinating stories of her encounters with people who have passed and her adventures as a profiler for various law enforcement organizations. With wit and compassion, Allison shows us what it is like to live with these special gifts and talents and also tells about her struggle to live a normal life as a devoted wife and mother. She shows how learning to accept her own gifts has helped her accept the unique gifts of others and how her compelling desire to relieve the pain of others has helped to define her own life, a life committed to the search for ultimate truth.©2004 Allison DuBois; (P)2005 Simon & Schuster Inc. People are commenting about the narration - yes Allison has a monotone voice, but who cares? She finds missing people and has devoted her life to helping people she has devoted her life to reliving awful moments in order to help others.

Not to mention once she passes everyone will wish there was more of her voice, so please.

Allison is amazing and this book is fantastic.

Amazing woman amazing book!

It was an opportunity to hear about how a child, with this special gift, grows up. I enjoyed the comments from her husband.

I really enjoyed the audio book.

I, like many other people, had never heard of Allison DuBois before 'Medium' hit the airwaves. When I saw the premier, I was already addicted. Finding she not only has one books out, BUT TWO, and is currently working on a third, I knew I had to read them.

I have always been intrigued by tales of communicating with the other side, whether good or bad. As a child I swore I had a family living in my bedroom, but my parents passed it off as my imagination. In my adult years, I've learned that children are highly succeptable to premonitions and 'visitors,' and parents/adults blow them off...causing the children to become closed to those things. Allison only confirmed that for me.

In 'Don't Kiss Them Good-Bye,' we get a peek into Allison's life as a Medium, and some of her readings. We don't stop to think about all aspects of this gift...Allison helps us to understand that. Such as, at what point do you draw the line between being a Medium and being a daughter or friend? Can you be both at the same time?!

I recommend this to anyone who has ever taken an interest in this topic...however, there are parts where Allison seems a little monotone.

Intriguing insight to the medium mind

Allison gives us information which settles many questions about those feelings we call intuition, huntches, and 'just knowing' the unexplainable. She's a compassionate being with the heart of helping and her work is facinating as well as comforting. I personally could relate to many of the examples and it encourages me to trust my instincts even more.
It is NOT an occult frenzy of ghosts, but enlightens the other side. Light and love flow from her reading.
I would encourage anyone who is grieving over someone who has passed to listen to this. She should be blessed for her honesty and I pray God continues to guide her with stregnth and clarity.

comfort, courage and caring

I've watched the TV show and was interested to learn what the real story is behind Alison Dubois. This book is read by the author and her husband and in this case I think they should have had someone else read it. Once I got past the cadence of the reader, I found the story itself fairly interesting.
