When twenty-something coder Seven Jones goes back to school at a community college in San Diego, the last thing she wants is to join some stupid club. And the last thing she expects is to walk into an underground magic club. Like, actual wizards and shit.

Seven reluctantly joins the motley crew of magic weirdos and discovers her own power. But she struggles to control it . . . until she figures out how to channel her magic through an artificially intelligent computer program.

Unfortunately, there is literally nothing Seven's new friends hate more than AI, and when a student mysteriously turns up dead, blame falls on Seven. Is her "creepy artificial magic" summoning terrifying creatures to hunt students? Or is someone trying to frame her?

With only one person—cute ex-Navy seal Logan—on her side, Seven fights monsters (Dragon? Check. Kraken? Check.) while struggling to convince everyone that her AI has nothing to do with them.

But how can she convince her peers when she isn't totally convinced herself?

Cute and feisty story. the audible sample isn't great, but narration was actually awesome!

This is the first book by this author I have read/ listened to. I kept seeing Liz's videos... which are hilarious and had to check out the book. I was hesitant about the audio book at first, the sample didnt sound tempting. I'm so glad I gave it a chance, I ended up loving the narrater. Hopefully she does the next one too! The story is cute, quirky, smart, mouthy, sassy, and sprinkled with nostalgia. I laughed throughout it. And it helped that I loved the characters. Now I'm going to have to look up more of her books!

great until act 3

I feel like this book started strong...then just went sideways at act 3. leaning too heavily on Matrix analogies, drastically changing the trajectory, and overall cramping on the main character, not really sure i care for a book 2.

Wow

Such an original story with a fascinating story, really beautiful characters and bonds and growth. I was sucked in to this story and read it in a day, i could not put it down. I loved how strong the storyline was, i was constantly curious and intrigued. Books often dont get that right but this writer did. It was funny and real, it kept moving and developing. Man oh man i cannot wait for the next book in this world
