The practice of double speak, the art of saying one thing while meaning or believing another, is far more than a cultural quirk or a rhetorical device; it is a hidden sickness of human society that has existed from the earliest days of civilization. It thrives in politics, in religion, in business, and even in daily relationships where words are used as masks instead of transparent revelations of the heart. At its core, double speak is a denial of truth, and truth, according to Scripture, is not merely an abstract concept but a person revealed in Jesus Christ who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Therefore, when men and women engage in the practice of double speak, they are not simply bending language for convenience—they are resisting and distorting the very nature of truth itself. The hidden truth behind this cultural practice is that it exposes the brokenness of the human heart, the fear of man rather than the fear of God, and the tendency of humanity to cover darkness with carefully crafted words of light.
