This book is very interesting but not what I expected. This book is about a character who is different than others in her tribe. It talks about this character, what she is supposed to do, who she actually is, and that a war was coming. After a few chapters it brings you more into the story.

It's a Cliffhanger

The book, ie: the storyline is well written. It's easy to listen to and definitely holds your attention. I must not have read the reviews before taking this one because it ends in a Cliffhanger! There is nothing I detest more than a book that ends in a cliffhanger. It just seems to me that the author could find a way to conclude the current plot point and then the next book could start with the next plot point in line.

So, my recommendation is if you don't mind cliffhangers, then you need to read or listen to this one.

Haunting narrative

It's refreshing to hear an author read their own book. They get the spirit of what they wrote. This poor girl who is the protagonist of the story is plagued with self-doubt and it shows in the voice.

I was given this audiobook by the author for free and have voluntarily left this review.

The narration was stiff and stilted.

I found the narration to be very stilted and and although it was very clearly annunciated, which I appreciate, is it was still challenging to listen to. The narrator uses the same voice for all characters in the story with no variation.
The story also seems to have too many crises. The protagonist moves from crisis to crisis without any time for resolution or even really any feeling of continuity.

Great series start

I really enjoyed this story, and am very much looking forward to the next book in the series. The author's narration, however, was very mechanical- I thought it was computer generated. Although everything was well annunciated, the same voice was used for each character which made it difficult to follow in some sections.
