Only the strong rise from despair.

Only the strong can take betrayal and batter it into submission.

The Stranglandermen are no more.

In Dragon’s Mist, we saw Connor establish his castle. In Dragon’s Born, he secured his land. In Dragon’s Realm, he exterminated a mortal enemy, and in Dragon’s Knight, he took his continent. Now three continents gather to wipe Connor and his knights from the Circle Sea. Can our hero survive their combined might?

And what of Dave, the maverick Englishman? Will he become useful or remain the fool?

Dragon’s End completes the epic 4X city building LitRPG saga, Warlords of the Circle Sea. At over a million words, it is a comprehensive tribute to hours, days, and weeks spent playing MMORPGs of varying flavors.

Listening to this book, I had a different reaction to the one of that (early) reviewer who wrote 'disappointing end'. I understand where (he?) is coming from, but I will in part disagree.

Want to know what was going on in my head, with five hours left in the book? 'This might just be the best book that Ember Lane has written'. It's a story well structured, one that balances a fair amount of darkness in the plot (which includes confrontation with the game creators) with Dave, our comic relief, who to me really did manage to be entertaining.

And quite a lot of what and how the main characters reacted at different times made sense to me. They were people thrown into a global struggle, one where they had no clue who was friend or foe. In no way could this type of story end in a way that didn't have misunderstandings and some tragedies.

I do think there are places where we can quibble. For example, one might quibble with why the game creators appeared to be more technomancers than wizards, whether battles would work that way, whether there was plot armor in the right and wrong place.

And I'd have just as soon appreciated an ending that had less room for sadness, or that might have had a longer epilogue, a couple of tweaks. But there's an awful lot that was done right.

This was an entertaining book, an interesting one, a bit dark but NOT grimdark. It's a plot that was thought out and structured, and executed.... almost... perfectly. Worthwhile.

I very much enjoyed this series. Author did pretty well. She struggled a bit with too much going at once and just kinda dropped the ball on some of the plot leads but overall did well to manage the many moving pieces in the story. But most of all she finished strong something that is extremely extremely rare in this genre. Most litrpg series have nonsensical or even terrible endings that leave a sour memory over the entire series. That is not the case here the ending was solid and covered all major plot points.

Great book

This book in particular was pretty good, ending is predictable but not entirely expected. Be prepared for a lot of plot twists towards the end.

For the series as a whole; I’d give it 3.5/5. Books 1-3 are great, very similar to defiance of the fall in several aspects. Books 4 & 5 unfortunately focus too much IMO on trying to figure out who’s betraying who. It went from a interesting story to a somewhat disjointed mess. It does eventually circle around and more or less explain everything; but at the end, I don’t find myself thinking back to the story & truly caring for any of the characters. I’m just glad it’s finally over.

There is such a thing as too much plot armor.

A good ending, if not a tad predictable

Simply DAVE, Dave”s character arc is outstanding, and read the book just for Dave. DAVE voiced by Mr. Proczko is also awesome.

DAVE needs his own book Ms. Lane.
