Constance Owens has a gift for finding unique items in the most unlikely places, which comes in handy, since she buys and sells artifacts and antiques for a living. When she purchases a set of four dragon statues, she has no idea just how unique they are, or that finding them will thrust her into a world of secret societies, men who think nothing of kidnapping and murder to get what they want, and dragon shifters.

Nic hasn't survived for four thousand years by letting his guard down, and he doesn't trust anyone except his drakon brothers. The loneliness haunting him has been getting worse since all his brothers have found their mates. And when he finds the woman his drakon recognizes instantly as his fated mate, he doubts he'll ever have what his brothers have, because it seems she's involved with the secret society of hunters who have been hunting and capturing his kind for hundreds of years.

Contains mature themes.

Phew this book. It was definitely a stay up too late, cannot put it down kind of book. The action and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading Nic and Constance’s fated mates with a side of mythical creatures and kidnapping. It was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. Nic is a powerful and immortal drakon who has been struggling with a desire to give in to the big sleep. He is also a collector of things. Constance is a human who buys and sells items she finds from various places including estate sales. She also cares for her younger sister. When she finds four dragon statues at an estate sale, a broker brings the statues and Constance to Nic’s attention. But he is not the only buyer but he is the only honorable one. As soon as Nic sees Constance he is drawn to her but his history makes him distrustful. To get to their HEA, thwart the Knights of the Dragon, and save Constance’s sister, they are going to have to learn to trust and heal together. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - sweet moments, steamy scenes, fighting, dangerous situations, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends, betrayal, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, plot twists, and laughs. The balance between the suspense and the romance was once again done very well. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

The narrator was perfect for this story. They made a fantastic story even better - more swoony, more steamy, more suspenseful, and more funny. Samantha Cook did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly. I really love the added dimension listening brings to a story.
