Undine thinks she could be happy living in a world where Stephen is still alive. Back in the real world, Trout could be happy too - as long as he doesn't think about Undine's disappearance, or why her shadow appears in his photographs. Phoenix is now in town, a drifter, passing through with his conjuring tricks. But they can't keep drifting forever, and one hot summer night their worlds collide.©2007 Penni Russon (P)2008 Bolinda Publishing

Editorial reviews

Melissa Eccleston gives an engaging performance of Australian writer Penni Russon’s young adult novel Drift, the final book in the Undine Trilogy. Her silvery voice, gentle delivery, and ability to inhabit disparate characters weave a spellbinding listening experience. Undine is trying to find her way home, but she’s caught up in grief. Trout is haunted by her disappearance, and sees her shadow in his photographs. Why is this the case? Why hasn’t she returned? Phoenix drifts into town, and soon the three are on a collision course.

Critic reviews

"Australian author Russon's supernatural thriller succeeds thanks to an engrossing, off-kilter mystery and a cast of adolescent characters rendered through pitch-perfect dialogue." ( Publishers Weekly)

I loved the story and the narrator. Undine wakes up in a world where her step-dad never died, with no sense of magic left and just rolls with it, but Jasper know's she's not his "Undine"... and she starts to wonder about the world she left behind. This is an epic conclusion to the trilogy and I found it gripping and satisfying through to the end. Enjoy... (you should have read "Undine" and "Breath" before this will make sense)
