This is a case where a brilliantly plotted mystery, combining 3 narratives is equally matched with the voice talents of the narrator. Each of the characters were fun to follow and I never got bored. Konrath knows right where to place his quick wit , and stays respectful when the story goes dark. Chris seemed to know who these people were and what they’d sound like. I’ll definitely be re-visiting this series.

Entertaining from beginning to end.

How does a professional voice actor not know how to pronounce basic words, like “copse”, or a name like Herb? The stories were good, there’s action and humor, but the narrator sounding like the guy that was the lowest bidder is distracting. It made suspension of disbelief more than a bit difficult. For an audiobook that’s this expensive, I’d expect quite a bit better.

The narrator isn’t great

I am a big fan of the Jack Daniels mysteries but this one was just ok. The plot was pretty good but the narrator was not a good fit for this series. He was unable to create a midwestern accent (which all previous narrators were able to do), and he was unable to pull off the tough guy persona of Finn.

Decent story but not the correct narrator.

Not enough insight from the criminals, and way too much insight from Harry. If this was the first book I discovered from this author, it would’ve also been the last. Harry is meant to be funny but comes off as pointless, childish, and goofy. Made the book unbearable!

Not with my last breath
