In the previous Season 3, Elfie got hurt. With a heavy heart still seething with rage, she follows Angus to America where new adventures await them. This new world, so far from their age-old Europe, turns out to be charming and exhilarating. But the freedom newly granted to the former slaves is still far from liberating a people, far from accepting a man such as Angus, and even farther from liberating women, whether they are Black or white. Elfie experiences this painful reality first hand. In this fourth season of ELFIE, we see, through the eyes of Elfie, how French people saw Americans in the 19th century, thanks to the meticulous, behind-the-scenes research of author Gabrielle Dubois. It’s humorous, serious, interesting, and always fascinating, with illustrations for each chapter that immerse us into the book as if we were watching a movie!
