Tasked with subjugating North America for the Roman Imperium in AD 1218, Praetor Gaius Marcellinus lost his entire legion but gained a powerful sense of purpose in uniting the peoples of the new world. Ending the seasons-old Mourning War between the five nations of the Iroqua and the plains-based Cahokians, Gaius was able to garner an uneasy truce between these united tribes and a Roman war machine hungry for gold and conquest. But Rome's long-standing conflict with the Mongol Horde has spilled over into North America. As the invaders of the steppes ride over the Rocky Mountains into the central plains, a massive conflict looms on the horizon like a thunderhead. This battle will change this world, and Gaius, forever.

Would you listen to Eagle and Empire again? Why?

Yes. One of the best trilogy endings since Return of the King.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Maka. Always loyal and true to the end.

What about Kevin Orton’s performance did you like?

His voice acting was very good. Not over the top but just right. Even with the women chareacter's dialogue.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Nova Hespiria Trilogy

Any additional comments?

I wish they'd make a movie trilogy for the books.

One of the best Alt History novels out there!

I love the alternate history

This is a great story and a strong finish to a fantastic trilogy.
The only two things I would change:
1) It's apparent here and there that the narration was done in more than a few takes. Every audio book bears the marks of different takes over different days, but many do such a good job of hiding it that you barely notice. It feels much more apparent here.
2) Horse-mounted troops are called "cavalry". "Calvary" is where Jesus was crucified. The book has the terms correct, but the narration often does not. The narrator does a great job otherwise, though.

Great Except for Two Things

I've read the prior three books but this is by far and large the culmination of expert military research. From ancient military bio warfare on the water to siege tactics. This book is brilliant
