The sixth book in the Virus/Earth II series.

The evil computer Julius has kidnapped Tom Herl, and his wife Joan doesn’t know his fate. Thousands of robots and spaceships were given to Earth’s survivors, and they realize two things: First, they must prepare for Julius’ return, and second, they must find a way to exist with their celestial neighbors.

Earth can’t be caught in the middle of the conflicts around them. They find themselves in a balancing act in dealing with the Terest and Izod, two civilizations that have been battling and now both want Earth’s survivors to be on their side.

I highly recommend this title in any form. My only complaint is... I wish there was more. ;)

Well written and good story line. Starts off with a virus that wipes out most of humanity and ends up a space adventure. The only thing I didn’t like in the audiobooks was lack of other voices for the wide variety of characters

Good book

This sequel raises the danger on every front—space, Earth, and digital. It ties the threads together in a thrilling way.

High stakes great payoff

I was hooked by the premise of Earth rising from the ashes and becoming a major space power. The political intrigue and alien negotiations were surprisingly detailed and believable. While the pace slowed a bit during the exploration segments, the looming threat of Julius kept the tension high. Perreault’s narration is clear and engaging, although a few more voice distinctions could’ve helped with immersion. Still, a fantastic continuation of the Virus series.

The integration of advanced ships and robotics into Earth’s defense infrastructure is handled convincingly. I finished the book feeling invested in both the characters and the future conflicts ahead. A solid choice for fans of expansive, forward-looking space operas.
