Deep below a desolate Utah mountain lies the largest platinum deposit ever discovered. A billion-dollar find, it waits for any company that can drill a world's record, three-mile-deep mine shaft. EarthCore is the company with the technology, the resources, and the guts to go after the mother lode. Young executive Connell Kirkland is the company's driving force, pushing himself and those around him to uncover the massive treasure. But at three miles below the surface, where the rocks are so hot they burn bare skin, something has been waiting for centuries. Waiting...and guarding. Kirkland and EarthCore are about to find out first-hand why this treasure has never been unearthed.

I'm going to keep this short and succinct so I don't accidently drop a spoiler.

There was a sizable cast of characters in this story, but with one or two possible exceptions, they were all so unlikable that I really didn't care what happened to them in any given scene. That made it difficult enough to enjoy, but what drove me crazy about the story was the totally unbelievable motivating factor that drives the primary antagonist. I can suspend an awful lot of disbelief to enjoy a thriller, but that was just too much for me.

...I guess my expectations were just set too high.

What did you love best about Earthcore?

Fast paced, bogged down a little bit in the middle, but overall kept my interest through the whole 19 hours.

What did you like best about this story?

The character development. I felt like I really got to know (most of) the reasons the characters reacted the way they did.

What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr. Porter is hands down my favorite narrator and was a perfect choice for this book. I have listened to almost everything he has done. This was an automatic buy for me, and did not disappoint.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Why is this not a movie already?

Any additional comments?

Well worth the credit, highly recommend.

It has been a few years since I read this one and... While I remembered that is was great - I forgot just how amazing it is!

I have listened to all of Scott Sigler's books through the years as he released them free as serialized podcasts and another, free platform as well.
Ray Porter does a great job!
I have been purchasing them through Audible because I enjoy the way they are organized and, mainly, I want to support Scott Sigler - FDO!

The development of the story us really well done! at times it's mysterious. At others it's a perfect mixture of slightly creepy and dark, and mysterious. this is my favorite stand-alone book of the year. I am excited for the sequel. The story is just so, so good. I'm big on spoilers so I am being intentionally vague. but the beginning setup hooks you, then the dropping of additional pieces of the story keep reeling you in. The explanation for the events is very satisfying and it is in a very explainable way. I'm blown away by this book. loved it!!

incredible book! had to I buy the physical book.

I didn't really have high expectations for the book but soon after the start I was hooked. The book was quite intelligent and entertaining. The end went a bit over the top but overall I'd still say it was one of my favorite books and of course worth the credit.

knocked my socks off
