Mismatched narration

I like the plot but can’t get over the mismatched narrator. The voice narrating is an AI generated older male voicing a young college aged woman. For the first 2-3 chapters I thought the main character was a young gay man until I looked at the chapter titles and put it all together. It is very strange. Not sure I can finish the book this way!
