An alien world teeming with deadly life. And 15 strangers with no memory of how they came to be there.

From the moment Sam Newman and fourteen others awaken inside metal coffins next to the burning wreckage of a spacecraft, they face a constant struggle to stay alive on a seemingly uninhabited planet light-years from home.

Worse, the last any of them remember, they were back home on Earth—at a time when interstellar travel was little more than a distant pipe dream.

Survival means finding out who-or what-brought them to this place. Yet what few answers they find amidst the steaming jungles and the ruins of that distant world defy all logic or sanity, and it soon becomes clear something has gone terribly wrong...

...Something that could mean humanity's survival—or its extinction.

A thrilling novel from the author of Stealing Light and Extinction Game.

Overall I was engaged and wanted to know more. If you’re looking for a tidy story with a lot of explanation and closed loops this isn’t the book for you. Very feee things are explained, there is an odd sex scene near the beginning of the book that is forced and doesn’t belong. Even the name
Of the book that is used as part of the story is forced.

Not a run of the mill sci-fi story

I deliberately choose books that require me to suspend belief, but the first couple of chapters of this one require too much of that. Add the gratuitous sex scenes and I’m gone. I listened to a few chapters and quit.

Too much to ask
