Fellinger ist ein kerniger Typ: Grantelig und gradaus. So, wie die Leute eben sind. Dort, wo er lebt. In einer Kleinstadt im Bayerischen Wald. Fellinger wollte immer Polizist werden. Hat nicht geklappt. Sein Knie. Und überhaupt. Jetzt ist er Lebensmittelkontrolleur. Eines Tages beschwert sich ein anonymer Anrufer über das chinesische Restaurant im Bezirk. Vor Ort stellt Fellinger fest, dass die schwarze Soße eklig, aber unbedenklich ist. Ganz anders sieht es da im Kühlhaus aus. Dort hängt ein toter Hund am Haken. Heikel wird die Sache, als sich herausstellt, dass die Halterin verschwunden ist. Fellinger fängt an zu ermitteln... und hört nicht mehr auf!

Somewhat entertaining

I’m guessing the author would say that referring to Chinese people as ‘pancake faces’ wasn’t racist, but rather just how his main character talks. In fairness, Europeans were referred to as ‘long noses’. So, anyway there was some crude humor. The plot was clever and the main character/narrator was amusing. I don’t think I will continue the series though as sample of second book wasn’t convincing. I finished nine books by Andreas Föhr and thought I’d try another author who uses the same excellent narrator.
