Winner of the American Library Association’s 2024 Odyssey Award for Excellence in Audiobook Production!

The beloved #1 New York Times bestselling and Newbery Honor winning graphic novel, adapted for audio with a full cast and sound effects.

El Deafo is now streaming on Apple TV+. The Guardian called the animated series: "Sweet, funny, poignant and definitely not just for kids."

Starting at a new school is scary, especially with a giant hearing aid strapped to your chest! At her old school, everyone in Cece’s class was deaf. Here, she’s different. She’s sure the kids are staring at the Phonic Ear, the powerful aid that will help her hear her teacher. Too bad it also seems certain to repel potential friends.

Then Cece makes a startling discovery. With the Phonic Ear she can hear her teacher not just in the classroom but anywhere her teacher is in the school—in the hallway . . . in the teacher’s lounge . . . in the bathroom! This is power. Maybe even superpower! Cece is on her way to becoming El Deafo, Listener for All. But the funny thing about being a superhero is that it’s just another way of feeling different . . . and lonely. Can Cece channel her powers into finding the thing she wants most, a true friend?

I loved the ending. It’s when Cece was saying that she didn’t hate her not at all. Not even when she hurt her eye. They pinkie sweared then they became friends again with Cece and her imaginary friend El Deafo

The way Cece was finally making friends with Martha

I love ❤️ this book 📚 and I know it’s a great way to get into a relationship with someone who is very close to death.
I appreciate the creativity of this book 📚
But the pictures of Cece is not what I imagined! I imagined a tall girl with curly hair 👩‍🦱
Even so it is a perfect 🤩 book 📚!

Awesome 👏

I think that it's an amazing book and I think that she couldn't have written in a better way. :-)

The way it was narrated so we could hear what it what it was like for her and that was very cool for me.:-)

The muffled effect of the book is terrible because you cannot hear what is being said, I get the point of it. However it makes the book very hard to listen to.

Worst audible I have ever listened to!
