Countess Elizabeth Báthory was from one of the most important Hungarian famililies that provided a Transylvanian prince and a king of Hungary and Poland. The legend says Elizabeth used to have a bath in blood of the girls to keep her body and soul young and has been named a witch or vampire for this. Considered the most prolific female serial killer, she received the nicknames "The Tiger of Csejte", "Countess Dracula" or "The Blood Countess". The Blood Countess has fascinated the public since her arrest in 1610. Her story took an extra dimension, experienced through the 1960s and 1970s with the publication of several movies and books about her. We actually know little about her crimes. The overall tendency in contemporary history concludes that her guilt might have been exaggerated. Truth be told, she could have been the victim of rival nobles who wanted to take her properties. However, she remains one of the most infamous murderers.
