Janine: I walked right into him outside my hotel room while on vacation. Somehow that turned into my spending the following three days in Cabo San Lucas with him. Emanuel, the firefighter and obvious heart breaker. But I don't have time for love. Not anymore, after a recent break-up, career change, and relocating to a new city. The last thing I need is to get involved with a man who's just not right for me. I've been strung along enough. So, I give Emanuel a fake name, thinking at the end of my time in Mexico I'd never see him again. How wrong I was.

Emanuel: Her name's Janine, not Nadine as she'd told me in Mexico, and she's my new neighbor. It's like the stars align, pushing us together. In spite of the push back on her part, I know we're meant to be. Steadily, I wear her down, breaking through the fears and insecurities her past has given her, showing her that I'm not the man of chaos I once was known as. And while my recent transfer to a new firehouse is going well, there are some lingering secrets that pose a threat not only to myself but the new woman in my life. When everything seems to finally be coming together for us, her past and the lingering threat to Rescue Four threaten to tear us apart.

Contains mature themes.

She never disappoints. Thank you so much 👏🏾. I love this series do much.

Loved It!!!

Janine is one weak woman; bristling up for something out of Emanuel’s control; but nothing but cowardly with everyone else. I would like to think that women are not this stupid and gullible. Alexander is still cracking me up with his banter with colleagues and depiction of female voices. Zuzu did a great job as usual.

So Weak

I really enjoyed this book — the characters, the romance, and the overall storyline of her finding herself were all great. My only issue was that at times the main character felt a little too passive for me. I understand the growth the author was showing, but I personally wished she had shown a bit more strength . Still, the story kept me hooked and I loved the way it unfolded.

Loved the storyline and drama. I live how the author incorporates the relationships with firefighters amongst each other. I also love how the men in these series are alphas and go after what they want. What annoyed me more than anything was how Janine thought that Emmanuel was in the mob and that was a complete deal breaker. Like girl, black women aren't protected and you wana run from a man who can give you the ultimate protection? And your reason is because it's dangerous when him being a firefighter is also dangerous????? Smh I was telling myself maybe Janine was better off with her weak ex. What I wouldn't give to have a protector like Emmanuel lol

Loved it but Janine, girl....
