Space opera

Expedition by Rachel Cherie is a great Space Opera adventure. Justin Fife did a great job with the narration. Expedition is the first book in Dekra 9-2-6 series. The story is action packed, mysterious, interesting, entertaining, and more. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. recommend.

Swing and a Miss …

It was an interesting, if somewhat absurd, premise … with an unfulfilled promise of humor that started with a “space collision” that strands our intrepid human castaways in the”Delta Quadrant” (a la STV) with a faint hope of finding their way home. It didn’t connect … to begin with … the world-building was hampered with way too many “alien” terms that should have been “translated” along with everything else to more familiar language (e.g. there is absolutely no reason not to convert any unit of measure). This all just makes it difficult to actually “stay” in world when so frequently forced to interpret such with the thin context provided. It also seems de rigueur these days for newer authors to insert way too much useless detail into the story that does not advance, which it this case, is a meandering and disjointed plot that moves so slowly I was finding it hard to actually care about what was happening. Unfortunately the eccentric cast of characters just weren’t interesting enough to carry the story, so I was mostly bored out of my mind for most of it … the only reason I stuck with it was the rather average narration. After just over half way through the 20+ hours, I could not finish.
