Exposing the Neo Gnostic NAR Movement

The New Apostolic Reformation contains elements that reflect genuine desire for spiritual renewal and zeal for God. Yet the pattern of its teachings and practices, as documented by scholars, commentators, and critics, also echoes elements that stray from apostolic Christianity:

• Elevating experience over Scripture
• Asserting ongoing revelatory authority
• Emphasizing dominion over obedience
• Encouraging spiritual leaders with elevated authority structures
• Blending spiritual and political aims

These tendencies parallel characteristics of neo-gnostic emphasis: secret knowledge, elite spiritual insight, experiential authority, and redefinition of doctrine. While NAR leaders do not deny core doctrines like Christ’s incarnation, the practical patterns of belief and practice raise theological concerns that Scripture warns against.
Believers are called to “test the spirits” (1 John 4:1), to “hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21), and to place Christ and Scripture at the center of doctrine and life (Colossians 3:17).
