Attorney Paul Riley has built a lucrative career on his famous prosecution of Terry Burgos, a serial killer who emulated the lyrics of a violent song to gruesomely murder six girls, including the daughter of billionaires Harland and Natalia Bentley. Now, fifteen years later, the police are confronted with a new series of murders - and the grisly second verse to the song. Riley is the first to realize that the two cases are connected and that the line between copycat and cover-up has been blurred. But as the murderer's list of victims becomes less random and more personal, Riley finds himself at the center of a police task force as both an investigator and a suspect.

As the layers encasing the mystery unravel, old deceptions emerge with dangerous new consequences. Driven by his own fear that he may have overlooked something crucial during the investigation years ago - and worse yet, the possibility that he is responsible for the execution of an innocent man - Riley sifts through fifteen years of lies in order to uncover the truth. But what he discovers along the way is that the killer isn't the only one who wants to keep the past buried.

This is the sixth David Ellis book I have listened to and as expected, the lawyer becomes a suspect and there is always a dysfunctional romance that distracts from a potentially great thriller/suspense novel. Dick Hill continues to be an excellent narrator which is the one asset that helped me get through this book. Time to move on to a new author.

Predictable

Repeated, gratuitous descriptions of killing women, blood, guts, gore. Nasty stuff, again and again. Who do you think your audience is?
Bad for women. Bad for good men. Where is the outrage?
Sick of it.

Unbelievable violence against women.

Just really boring and way too long for what substance was there . I regret listening to this book .

To make a short story long ....

What would have made Eye of the Beholder better?

I'm not really sure how to rate this read at this time because it is so confusing that I cant get throught the first half of the book. I have attempted to start/re-start the audio several times and...still no clarity.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Hopefully Mary Higgins Clark wont disappoint me!

What didn’t you like about Dick Hill’s performance?

his voice was fine...It's the confusing story line...maybe I'm to distracted.

Confused...
