Stumbling across a murder and getting chased off a cliff makes for one heck of a bad day. But when a handsome blue-eyed hero comes to Darcy's rescue, things begin to look up.

The last thing Randy expected when he made the hike up the bluff was to rescue a beautiful woman hanging off a cliff ledge. He soon learns that he's her only protection against powerful forces that want her silenced.

This is the second in Cheryl Yeko’s Hero series, but a stand-alone. As with the first book in the series, "Mountain Hero", I found the hero in this novel very likeable and romantic. Together with the heroine, they made a lovely couple I wanted to see succeed against the bad guys, and live happily ever after. That’s because they shared a natural trust, bond and sizzling chemistry as soon as they met, even in the difficult circumstances. I loved reading the hero’s respectful attitude (including sexual respect) toward the heroine as he cared for her and protected her. The intrigue and suspense heightened the hero’s protective streak, making him swoonworthy to me, all within a short story time frame (under 3 hours), and it worked well.

I’ve heard all 3 stories in this series available on Audible. Author Cheryl Yeko consistently writes likeable main characters, and compelling romantic suspense.

Narrator Alan Taylor’s voice and characterisations were wonderful and easy to listen to, even when he was reading from the heroine’s point of view. I look forward to hearing him narrate again. Both he and Cheryl Yeko are happy discoveries for me.

Short and sweet fast paced romance. Not a lot of character development, but still a feel good story.
