FIRST CONTACT is the fifth and final book in the Manifest Destiny series. It is the final chapter in the alternate history narrative of the United States which began with Lincoln Sneezed. The development of the cold fusion reactor by Nicola Tesla, and his joint pioneering efforts with Dr. Robert Goddard to create the Cold fusion powered rockets propelled first the United States, then the rest of the world powers into space. The thrill of exploration and colonization soon gave way to the reality that we were not alone. Violent species were out there, and likely did not have our best interests at heart. Inevitably, an exter-terrestial species makes contact, with a grave warning of a violent, predatory species closing in on the Earth controlled systems. Choices need to be made. Who can the Earth explorers trust?
