If happily ever after were a place, 20-year-old Bryn Dawson would be on the farthest planet from it.

Reduced to stolen glances and secret meetings as they await a betrothal the Council is bent on stalling, William and Bryn have to settle for happily right now, but with a man like William Hayward at her side, Bryn's hardly settling.

The day John Townsend sends an army of immortal mercenaries intent on destroying everyone Bryn loves, she must make the decision generations of star-crossed lovers before her have - live alone or die together. William has made his decision; Bryn is the one fate's waiting on.

But fate will only wait so long until it makes the decision for her.

Bryn and William seem to never get a break. When Bryn realizes what her gift is, she runs, leaving heartbreak and anger in her wake. She also makes herself vulnerable to John's people and a smattering of putting herself in positions that just make her look bad with the Hayward family, especially Patrick who never lets Bryn forget what she has led everyone believe about her.

This story was interesting and I loved the twists and turns it it. I especially loved seeing Patrick develop and his and Bryn's love / hate relationship. It is comical at times.

It is worth the listen.
