Kriste was overweight and turning fifty. Her approaching birthday milestone was a harsh reminder that life was moving quickly, and time was running out to become the woman she once imagined she'd be. Out of shape, uninspired, and riddled with self-doubt, Kriste was determined to make the changes necessary to tackle the next half of her life with grace, bravery, and self-love.

In this honest memoir, follow Kriste on her fifty-week journey out of her comfort zone and on the path to becoming a woman who faces her fears, tackles weight issues, finds her voice, and scrambles up mountains.

Fat Mom on a Mountain is an honest portrayal of a mother who is trying to find herself by peeling away the layers she accumulated through life. Raw, sarcastic, and emotional, this book will leave you inspired and ready to conquer a mountain of your own.

I wish I could meet this author in person. I can relate to her on so many levels. I would love to have the fearless courage to do what she did! I highly recommend this book!

I love her humor and talent.

The idea of a woman/mom adventure walking is right up my alley. I have so many walking and hiking books and I love most of them. This one has many good features but the biggest turn off is that this gal is so whiney, self centered and self absorbed! It was so hard to listen to what happened to her decades ago and even now how no one likes her and they are all going to be staring at her if she makes on small mistake. She is afraid to get on the airplane. She is afraid of being alone. Her children have to comfort her instead of the other way around! I don't like her and I don't even know her! I don't ever want to meet her. When she is talking about getting ready for the hike, purchasing things, packing up, walking, camping, meeting people - I love that part. But then the poor me, pathetic, complaining, whiney person comes out and it ruins everything. It is almost like she doesn't want to take responsibility for her choices. Yes, she made poor food choices sometimes. We all do. But do we have to hear about it over and over and over again???? When she finally has a victory, small or large, it's hard to celebrate because we know that she is going to mess it up with her attitude.
I was very excited when she finally made the climb and I wish her all the luck in the world. I will never listen to another book by this pitiful woman. This is the worst of the hiking books that I have listened to and I'm sure it won't be the last and I had to keep listening because I wanted to hear of a victory and hear a triumphant yell. We got it at the end and I actually smiled and felt proud of her and for her. I am wishing that she can climb out of the abyss and have a happy life. Go hike!! Quit complaining! Complaining and whining is a choice! Stop already!!!!

I like this book and I HATE this book!!!!

Her inner talk makes me realize I'm not the only one thinking these crazy things. Great story of fortitude through the common throws of weightloss and goal of something that scares you. Great reading. I wished it hadn't ended - I coulda heard more! If the title intrigues you even a little, just get it! Won't disappoint.

so relatable!
