In the fourth book in this popular and charming series, set in the 1930s amid the rolling green hills of colonial Ceylon, it is monsoon season in the Hill Country.

One stormy night, a ghostly encounter on a lonely road leads Inspector de Silva into a case of murder and a mystery that stretches back to Ceylon’s distant past. To uncover the truth, he will have to face death and his inner demons.

If you love entertaining and absorbing mysteries, spiced with colorful characters and a dash of humor, don’t miss the Inspector de Silva Mysteries.

Inspector Da Silva lives in the country in a small town. But he is a sharp detective. He’s a happily married man with a smart and caring wife. The 1930s setting is picturesque and the story is peopled with very interesting characters. The British colony of Ceylon, the present Sri Lanka, is the location of all the action. The author’s descriptions stimulate the imagination. I love these 4 books. Wish there were more! Narrator is fantastic!!! Master of accents!

Book 4 in this series is OK, but not great. I found the series to be generally pleasant listening, with well formed period Ceylon settings, but the stories could be more interesting and dynamic. The writing quality is good, as is the narration.

Book 4 is OK but not great

A very good addition to the series. Knew who did it fairly easily, but the how, and why, was fun to figure out.

Very entertaining

It’s exasperating to see the inspector being so gullible in the face of crooks. He keeps falling for tricks over and over and over.

Why is the inspector becoming so gullible?
