Mixed Emotions

This is my first experience with this series and while it was a decent story, I did have some issues with it.

I loved the Delta Force alums as the saviors of the day. Their testosterone-filled presence made for some very thrilling sequences. I didn't understand then, why such a take-no-prisoners mentality would leave the bookstore without security.

Ivy was one of the female leads who had suffered at the hands of an abusive ex. She was wary around men. Why would she shy away from a US Marshal but get in the face of a burly male hospital orderly?

The murder of the judge is the catalyst for this story. If the killer was so brazen to shoot the judge in his home, why didn't he take care of the two booksellers who were in the home as well?

There were some head-scratchers, for sure.

The narration was really well-done. I don't agree with the voice she chose for Ivy. It was way too high-pitched and since Ivy was one of the main female leads, that high-pitch became a bit much. The narrator performed quite a few other voices - male and female - to perfection though. In fact, when the other security force came into the story, I was in complete awe with her ability to make those varied voices so unique.

There was plenty of action in this story interspersed with the "sweethearts" and the "kittens" and the nose bopping (gag) and that makes it worth the price of admission.

Very Entertaining

I love this series. Kristina Fuller Yuen is very talented!!! For my view of the characters and story, I enjoyed this narration very much. The story is full of great characters, great suspense, and a bit of romance.

Great Romantic Suspense!

This was my first Rebecca Deel's book. This is the book 4 in the Otter Creek Series, but I haven't read the first books in the Series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I think the best is to begin with the first books to know more about the other characters. This is a great Romantic Suspense, with wonderful characters. The story is well written and the storyline is fast-paced, intriguing and suspenseful. I loved the sweet romance between Del and Josh. Josh is an alpha protective/possessive man. Del is a really strong woman. I love their story and their happy ending! The secondary characters are also very interesting and I'd love to know more about them. This was my first listen to Kristina Fuller Yuen's voice. She has a great range of voices and she has done an amazing job with all the characters! I really enjoyed my listening. Now, I'd love to listen to the oter books in the Series. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Exciting Clean Mystery Thriller

I have really been enjoying this series! It has mystery with an action thriller side and also romance that is very entertaining and still free of bad language and sexual content. What more can you want? The only con I have is that the romance side is more instantaneous then happens in real life, very quick to start pet names... still really sweet and not a turn off to reading the book or series.

The narrator does a wonderful job, has a pleasant voice, good character voice differentiations that do make for a fun listen. I did prefer listening at 1.25x speed.
