'A great cast of characters, a riveting storyline, a nail-biting climax' Valerie Keogh

The Forrester Detective Agency is going from strength to strength: they’ve expanded their office space and even hired a new office manager – a qualified and astute woman named Carol.

What starts as a simple burglary case soon turns into something darker. The victim of said burglary soon turns up dead, after making threats to the local yobs she believed to have been responsible.

But it soon becomes clear that there’s more at play here, and Matt – alongside sister Hermia, partner Steve, and life partner Karen – will have to put all his skills to the test, even if it puts them all in danger…

A compelling mystery from bestselling author Anita Waller that will keep you guessing until the end.

It seemed this story was off to a good start, and right away the narration was excellent. The characters were interesting in the beginning and their interactions held promise, but then it became repetitive and the movement foreward came to a halt. Filled in with family details that took the energy out of what was billed as a thriller. As the book went on, I expected the story line to pick back up, but it didn't and it lacked a main focus. The story line disappeared. The characters that had started off interesting, dulled. What really was suprising was the weak handling of the ending of the book. I don't know if this was supposed to be a cliff hanger, but it came across as simply a sudden stop.

I was glad to finish it so I could move on to a different book. The top notch narration couldn't save this listen.
