This is a famous novel by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer originally written in Malayalam with the name Pathummayude Aadu. The book was translated into Tamil by M Yoosuf. The main characters in Fathumavin Aadu (Modern Indian Classic Novel) are the members of Basheer's family and a goat that belongs to his sister Fathuma, hence the novel's title. Basheer was literally a nomad and spent very few days at home with his family. Even when he came home, he would stay in the outhouse he had built for himself in the same plot as his house. He used to spend most of his time in this outhouse working on his books. This book mainly talks about this one time when he was forced to live with his whole family for a few days. He talks about his siblings, their kids and the family's domestic animal pets, in a very entertaining way.©2020 Storyside IN (P)2020 Storyside IN Genre Fiction Literary Fiction
