A fall festival in full swing. A hidden body behind the tents. And Maple Lake's coziest season taking a deadly turn.

Molly Montgomery is ready for caramel apples, pumpkin contests, and a cozy weekend at Maplewood Haven, her charming bed and breakfast—with Jake, the handsome handyman, and warm cider.

But when her Chihuahua, Mitz, leads her to a body behind a festival tent, plans for small-town charm unravel fast.

With her chaos-loving best friend, Lila, at her side, this amateur sleuth follows threads of gossip and odd behavior through the crowds.

Two suspects rise quickly: Edith Patterson, the sharp-tongued organizer overheard arguing with the victim, and Dennis, the jittery security manager who vanished from his post that same night. Both have secrets…and both deny everything.

The deeper Molly digs, the more the cheerful façade begins to crack. Someone is watching, warnings grow bolder, and clues twist into something darker.

If she doesn't expose the killer soon, this year's Fall Festival may mark the end of far more than the season.

the story itself has a lot of repetitive words/sentences. and the last chapters seem out of order or repetitive just with different words. If it was edited it would be a great cozy mystery.

I wanted a good fall read. I also like a mystery, so I took a chance. The story was pretty short. I was kind of glad because I don't find virtual voices very pleasing. Overall it kept my attention but didn't leave me wanting more.

Overall just ok.
