There’s something special about a Nora Sommer mystery, I think it’s the irresistible blend of action, intrigue, and island charm I’ve come to love. Festive Sommer delivers on all of those things.

Nicholas Harvey and Kim Bretton are a dream team. Their storytelling magic effortlessly whisked me away to the Caribbean. Whether it’s the lush setting or the pulse-pounding suspense, this book was an absolute breeze to devour—like a tropical drink with a twist of suspense.

This time around, the stakes feel extra high, with an air of Clue-like mystery woven into the plot. A famous author, a book launch, and a gathering of intriguing (and possibly dangerous) personalities? Yes, please! The way Harvey plays with the idea of fiction bleeding into reality kept me hooked. Everyone is in attendance because of the author’s new book, making it impossible not to suspect everyone when things start to take a deadly turn. It was a fascinating setup that kept me on my toes, trying to piece together the puzzle before Nora could.

And, of course, Kim Bretton’s narration is once again a perfect match for the story. She brings out all the nuance in Nora’s character—determined, sharp, and just the right amount of witty—while also making the supporting cast feel distinct and full of life. Whether it was the thrill of the chase, the intrigue of the mystery, or the warmth of the festive setting, I was completely immersed from start to finish.

Fans of the series (like me!) will love this one, and if you haven’t jumped into the world of Nora Sommer yet, what are you waiting for?

Kim Bratton does an amazing job reading the part of Detective Sommer. I love her accent.
