The thrilling follow-up to best seller Never Never.

It's not easy being a good detective - especially when your brother's a serial killer. Sam Blue stands accused of the brutal murders of three young students, their bodies dumped near the Georges River. Only one person believes he is innocent: his sister, Detective Harriet Blue. And she's determined to prove it.

Except she's now been banished to the outback town of Last Chance Valley (population 75), where a diary found on the roadside outlines a shocking plan - the massacre of the entire town. And the first death, shortly after Harry's arrival, suggests the clock is already ticking.

Meanwhile, back in Sydney, a young woman holds the key to crack Sam's case wide open. If only she could escape the madman holding her hostage....

Harry (Harriet Blue) is quite a character, not in a funny (ha ha) way, but in a very strong personality way. I am really interested in reading the next book (assuming there will be a next one). There has to be a next one. Mr. Patterson would not be so cruel as to just leave the ending of this book as the final ending (would he?). This is one of those books that I could not predict the events ahead of time. It seems to be one surprise after another right through the last page. I was tied in knots reading this book and still feel unsettled after finishing it. This is a huge sign of an excellent book in my view. It evoked emotions in me all the way through and I am still going over the events in the book. I am not writing this very well. I cannot seem to find a way to express the depth of my reaction. I will stop here and hope you understand.
