From Just Let It Kill Me to Finding Good, Mike Thompson’s inspirational story will empower you to live your best life. Diagnosed with cancer at the age of 10, Mike Thompson would endure four total cancers, two bone marrow transplants, more than 75 surgeries—including a 12-hour facial reconstruction—and more than six years in the fog of addiction to opioids. After being freed from the clutches of drug dependency, Mike took a leap of faith and set out to reclaim his life.
How? By focusing on finding good in everything. As Mike puts it, “Finding Good is about living your best life by first taking care of your mind and body, then surrounding yourself with good people, and ultimately doing your part to leave the world better than you found it.”
This heartfelt, unflinching memoir of resilience and redemption will empower you to find the good in your life, too. It's a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is good to be found.
If you enjoyed memoirs such as The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin or Always Looking Up by Michael J. Fox, you'll be inspired by Finding Good.

And he doesn’t just preach them — he lives them. His story reminds you that chasing joy isn’t selfish, it’s contagious. Selfishly (and appropriately), my favorite chapter is Chapter 12: Bikes, Breakfast, & Best Friends. Without that community — affectionately known as “Breakfast Club” — I would not know of him, his story, or have some of my closest friendships right now. It’s proof that shared victories really are possible when you surround yourself with good people.
Witty, heartfelt, and brimming with hope, Finding Good doesn’t just tell you how to find good in life — it reminds you that it’s been beside you all along.
