When Tonia Enahoro agreed to go on that boat ride with Edward Landis, little did she know she had shifted the arm of her destiny in another direction.

Tonia Enahoro is a regular schoolgirl studying relentlessly to make good grades that could determine her ability to escape from her detested Makoko slum home. Edward Landis is a rich, biracial newbie who found companionship in Tonia at school. Over the years, their friendship develops. Edward wants to take things to the next level, but despite Tonia liking him, she’s hesitant. He plans a canoe picnic for two, and Tonia accepts his invitation with the condition that she returns early to her ailing mother and younger ones. This decision would change the course of her life.

After her mother’s passing, she runs away from home to seek financial freedom and refuge in her employer’s home. Things start to fall in place until Kabiru, the employer’s son, takes an interest in her and seeks her assistance in solving his long-time dilemma with his parents. They both have what they need for exchange. Tonia agrees to fulfill his demands in exchange for a profitable reward, but at what prize? Will they succeed, or will their actions further draw them into an unknown territory?
