THE INSPIRATION FOR HBO AND SKY TV’S EMMY NOMINATED HOUSE OF THE DRAGON.

Centuries before A Game of Thrones, an even greater game began, one that set the skies alight with dragon flame and saw the Seven Kingdoms turned to ash.

So began the Targaryens’ bloody rule, with fire and blood. Setting brother against brother, mother against daughter, and dragon against dragon.

Chronicled by a learned maester of the Citadel, this thrilling and bloody history of Westeros tells the story of where the battle for the Iron Throne began…

This audio edition now includes an exclusive interview between George R.R. Martin and historian Dan Jones.

I always enjoy the complexity with which George R. R Martin writes his novels, you understand why it takes as long as it takes.
For anyone who’s a fan of “A Song of Ice and Fire” this is a great add to your knowledge and for anyone who’s a fan of well written stories and likes to imagine, this here is your gem.
I can’t wait for the next one.

While you might wish for Mr Martin to finish his books quicker what you do not want if for him to have compromised in anything that he did in this book and any of his other books.

I love the narration by Simon Vance, “Well done Ser” in the voice of Ser Maynard Plumm

I did it like very much but it is too short as it does not include the whole history of the house Targaryen, it ends with start if reign of king Aegon III.

Nice addition to the history of House Targaryen

Its written very well and positioned from the perspective of a narrator - historian . Nice fresh approach that makes you wonder how much is true. It puts a lot of perspective to the original Ice and fire saga.
Very amusing and never dull.

One downside : it ends closely after the civil war: Dance of Dragons events. Thus its a bit misleading because you expect the whole story until Aerys II.

Very good , well read and detailed

I wish there were more books in the style of “history book of a fictional event or world” in the way that Fire and Blood and World War Z do so well. This book perfectly emulates reading a real history book but adds more humor and character and most importantly dragons that most academic texts sadly lack.

Great for any Game of Thrones or history fan
