This is a Cassidy Edwards Short Story by USA Today best-selling and award-winning author Carmen Caine.

At puberty, they’d called it. I, Naz Beauchene, was the first, official family dud.

Born into a long line of illustrious shifters of the feline variety, my family fully expected me to blossom into a panther or maybe even a cherished lioness. They got neither. Not even one spark of magic stirred my blood.

But then one day, a handsome Nether Reach Keeper crashed through the door where I worked as an imp trainer...and everything changed.

I really enjoyed Naz’s story. This might be the Cassidy Edwards Short Story, but there is no Cassidy in the story, and it was just the right length for Naz and Stryx. Although it is book 4.5 in the series, I hadn’t previously listened to any of the others and don’t feel like I missed anything. I am sure there were probably references to characters or other things.

Lynn Devereux narrated Naz with a smooth tone that was easy to listen to. I loved when Naz would yell at Olivia. But I think Ms. Devereux’ best work was as Edna drawling out the “darling” phrases.

Enjoyable Surprise

This was unexpected. I’m sure it plays into the plot. Cant wait to see how it all ends. The narration was great. If its to slow try speeding up to 1.5 it helped me A LOT.

Short story... they meant it
